Plan Intro DSW - June 2026 - “But God…”
If you look up the word “but” in the dictionary or on dictionary.com, you might be surprised at how many uses you will find of that simple, 3 letter word. I sure was surprised!! I had no idea how many ways the word “but” could be invoked. This month’s scripture writing topic, “But God…” will demonstrate the usage of that word in various ways throughout God’s Holy Word. Many times, you will find it used in a way that seemingly turns a situation around, as shown in Genesis 15:20a, “But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…” In Joseph’s situation, God had taken the evil perpetuated upon him by his brothers, and turned it to good. How many times do we also see that play out in our own lives?
We recently held a “But God…” service at our church. After having a time of anointed worship and experiencing a powerful movement of the Holy Spirit in the service, we took turns, one by one, sharing how the Lord had taken a particular situation or situations in our lives and turned them around for our good. Stories of loss and restoration. Stories of sickness turned to healing. Stories of provision in complete lack. There was barely a dry eye in the house as we all recited times that the Lord had stepped in turned around an impossible situation. One of the greatest examples is from our friends, Josh & Ciara, who travel all around our region singing anywhere that the opportunity to do so is presented, under the group name, “But God…” Josh frequently relates the story about how they came to use that as their artist name, explaining that during the peak of the COVID pandemic in 2020, he was hit with a very bad case of COVID. He spent months in the hospital in ICU where he was on a ventilator clinging to life. His family was told he would never walk, talk or function as normal again, and that he SURELY would never be able to sing!! BUT GOD had other plans!!! Josh made a miraculous, full recovery and leads as normal of a life today as anyone could have ever hoped for, singing for the Lord at every chance he gets. Our God can step in and turn things around!!!
As we write the scriptures out this month, I would love to hear your “But God…” stories. How did God step in for you in a time of need? How did He turn around a near impossible situation? How did he restore a broken relationship that had zero hope? I look forward to hearing how God has intervened on your behalf. I know He surely has intervened on mine time and time and time again!!
Happy Writing!
~Mel~
** Please note: I write all my plans based from the KJV Holy Bible, so other translations may vary in wording, but should have the same context. Also, I write all my plans for 31 days so they can be used any month of the year. **
