DSW PLAN INTRO - APRIL 2026 - NAMES OF GOD
April 2026 - Daily Scripture Writing Plan, "Names of God"
Preface: This month's plan was originally shared back in July 2022. As I attempted to create a new plan for April 2026, my mind was unsettled and my Spirit felt blocked from creating brand new content. I prayed and sought the Lord's direction. I felt Him leading me back to this plan from several years ago. The names of God are timeless. I never tire of studying them. As we are currently observing Holy Week leading up to Easter 2026, I believe this plan definitely bears repeating. Perhaps it will help us keep our focus on the characteristics of our loving Father, even long past frilly, new Easter dresses, hats and bows. May it remind us throughout the month of the facets of God we may not think about every day.

"El shaddai, el shaddai
El-elyon na adonia
Age to age You're still the same
By the power of the name
El shaddai, el shaddai
Erkamka na adonai
We will praise and lift You high
El shaddai"
The first time I ever heard Amy Grant sing that song (sometime in 1985), I was mesmerized. I had goose bumps all over me, and I could feel the power of the Holy Spirit moving as I heard her sing some of the names of God. Since that day, I have sung that song countless times in church, and have again felt the Holy Spirit as His anointing would fall.
The names of God do not change who He is, but they certainly give us a glimpse into the various characteristics of our loving, Heavenly Father. He is Omniscient, Omnipotent, & Holy. He is Love and Justice and Light. He is the Beginning and the End - Eternal. He is all these things and more!
This month's daily scripture writing plan was birthed from a Sunday School lesson I taught to my grandchildren at church. My husband had created a word match game using super hero names. On one card would be the "real" name of a superhero and on the other was that person's "hero" name, and each set would have to be paired together. For instance, Bruce Wayne's card would be matched with Batman and Peter Parker's name would be matched with Spiderman. Though my husband had a different focal point in mind when he created this game, the Lord prompted my heart about the names of God. I gave each child a device they could access Google with, and told them to do a search on "Names of God." One of my grands found the most AMAZING list and as I read it, I felt the tears springing to my eyes, pondering all those names & characteristics of God. Years ago, my husband and I had done a study on the Jehovah names of God, so that foundation was already laid in my heart. I began to research this topic using the Bible app, blueletterbible.com, and MANY, many other resources. It was AMAZING!!!! The list I compiled in the writing plan barely scrapes the surface of the names of God. There are SOOOOOOO many more!!!! I hope this study will bless you and cause you also to dig deeper. There may be a part 2, 3, or more to this topic!
Happy Writing!!
Mel
** Please note: I write all my plans based from the KJV Holy Bible, so other translations may vary in wording, but should have the same context. Also, I write all my plans for 31 days so they can be used any month of the year. **
