DSW - JAN 2025 - REST, RESTORE, RENEW

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne?"

In just a few short days, we'll hear these words ringing out across the airwaves of television, radio, internet streaming, videos, etc.  The song, "Auld Lang Syne," has become synonymous with the New Year's holiday.  In my research for this intro, I learned that it was written by Scottish Bard, Robert Burns, who lived in Scotland in the late 1700's.  It was a tribute of sorts to friendship, encouraging the listener to hold on to old friendships and to remember them fondly.  Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." That friend is Jesus!  As we enter into a New Year, we would do well to remember the friend we have in Jesus, and to focus on His love for us.

As we step into January 2025, I'm doing so in utter exhaustion.  The hustle and bustle of the last few months of the year have left me breathless and completely spent.  I feel like I have very little energy remaining in my body, soul, heart and mind.  So, the Lord has impressed on my heart that I need to "rest, restore, and renew," in all the ways.  I need to set more boundaries. I need to ask for help more.  I need to focus on being quiet and still in my soul more.  I need to catch my breath, and maybe you do as well?  Although I'm not one for making New Year's resolutions, I do believe a new year is a time to re-evaluate ourselves, note where we can do better, and strive to do so.  In that spirit, my word for 2025 is going to be "RENEW." Lord, renew my heart. Renew my mind. Renew my soul.  As King David said in Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and RENEW a right spirit within me." That is my personal prayer for 2025. I pray the same for you.

Happy Writing to you all!!  From the Daily Scripture Writing Admin and Accountability teams, we wish you all a
very prosperous, safe, and spirit-filled Happy New Year!

** Please note: I write all my plans based from the KJV Holy Bible, so other translations may vary in wording, but should have the same context.  Also, I write all my plans for 31 days so they can be used any month of the year. **
