DSW - FEBRUARY 2024 - GLORY!
DSW - FEBRUARY 2024 - "GLORY!" - PLAN INTRO
8. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
9. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of
glory shall come in.
10. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.
Psalm 24:8-10 KJV
Each year as the New Year begins, millions of people in the US and around the world make a New Year's resolution. It might be to lose weight, focus on better nutrition, finances, academics or absolutely ANYTHING they wish to change for the better in their lives. I'm not a New Year's resolution kind of person. My personal conviction is that I should resolve to do better every day, not just at the dawning of a particular day on the calendar. I am most convinced of this resolve within myself when it comes to my walk with God. I feel that I should strive each day to do better in my walk than I did the day, week, month or year/years before. Therefore, I don't climb on the New Year's resolution band wagon every January 1. It's just not my thing.Though I don't make a New Year's resolution, oftentimes the Holy Spirit will impress upon my heart a word, a verse or a theme as a New Year begins. The beginning of 2024 was no exception. The word He laid upon my heart was GLORY. Through study of scriptures, prayer, teachings, or friends/loved ones, I just kept hearing that word in my heart! It caused me to dive deeper to try and understand why the Lord had laid that on my heart so heavily. The scripture above, Psalm 24:8-10, kept playing in my head, & this is what was revealed to me: I need to strive in all I do to give God GLORY in 2024. But what did that mean? I became convicted that I RUN too much. I run from one task to another. I run from one day into the next. I run from one place to another. RUN, RUN, RUN: like a gerbil on a wheel, all I do is RUN!!!! In all that running, do I always give God my BEST - to His GLORY, or am I just giving him "minimum do," and not glorifying Him as I should? I knew the answer as soon as the question was posed. I have to get my gerbil-like self off of the wheel; slow down and give God my BEST - not just "minimum do" - all to His GLORY!!
So that explains the inspiration for this month's plan, "GLORY!" Can anyone relate to my conviction? Are you, like me, a "gerbil on a wheel," run, run, running all the time just to check the necessary boxes, but maybe not giving your level best to the Lord? How can you and I change this spiritually, emotionally, physically, etc? Feel free to respond to these questions in the comments, by private message to me, or just in your own heart & mind.
Happy reading & writing - ALL TO GOD'S GLORY!!!
Mel
Please note: I write all my plans based off the King James Version of the Holy Bible, so other translations may vary in wording but should have the same context. Also, I write all plans for 31 days so that they can be used any month of the year.
