DSW - JANUARY 2024 - "BEHOLD"

As I pondered the topic for this month's Daily Scripture Writing Plan with the New Year being just around the corner, my mind kept going back to this passage:

"BEHOLD, I will do a NEW thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19

To some degree, isn't a New Year a sort of wilderness & desert? No one can know what the future holds, and that is especially evident going from one year into the next while looking back upon the closing year.

Pondering Isaiah 43:19 caused me to keep coming back to the word, "BEHOLD." Dictionary.com defines the word, "behold" in this manner:

verb (used with object): to observe; look at; see.

interjection: look; see:

This word is used in the Bible to draw attention to the passage it is used in, sort of like the way the word "therefore" is used to draw the reader into the passage and see what it is "there for."

Years ago, there was a popular Christian Contemporary song entitled "Behold." My husband and I used to sing it together as a duet in church. The lyrics are so very powerful and point to our precious Saviour, Jesus Christ.  You can follow the link below to hear it on YouTube.  As you listen, close your eyes and BEHOLD our saviour and what He has done within your own heart and life.  Allow yourself to worship Him in the quiet of your heart and mind.  He truly is worthy to "BEHOLD!"

This month, as you put pen to paper to write the daily assignments, think about how the word "behold" draws your attention within that verse. The verses I've chosen come from all over God's Word, and as the word "behold" is used, it is done so with different intentionality in different places.  Ponder the manner in which it is used within the passage for each daily assignment.  My prayer is that as we all "BEHOLD" God's word this month, He will open our hearts and minds in NEW ways and reveal greater truths to us.

Please note: I write all my plans based off the King James Version of the Holy Bible, so other translations may vary in wording but should have the same context. Also, I write all plans for 31 days so that they can be used any month of the year.

Happy reading & writing, and may you have a most blessed and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
