DSW - July 2023 - "Living Water -" Plan Intro

Water is essential to life. Nothing on this planet can survive without it; even those organisms which require the least of it, do require some measure of hydration.
We recently had a 1 day VBS at our church which we themed, “Goin’ Fishin’,” based on Luke 4:10 (Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.) Of course, in our lesson time, we taught the children about Jesus’ words about being “fishers of men,” and then later in the day they all had the opportunity to play outside in LOTS of water…on water slides, in a HUGE slip & slide, and in the water hose spray. On that day, water was used to teach, and to have fun and cool off in the hot sun. WATER is VITAL to life!
In a story from John 4 which many of us know quite well, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman drawing water from a well. There is much to be learned from this passage, but one of the most crucial things that comes out of it is stated by our Savior in verse 14: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Though earthly water is crucial to life on this planet, the water given by Jesus is crucial to EVERLASTING life! Just as water on planet earth sustains us here, the water that Jesus offers will sustain us FOREVER!
There are countless mentions of “water” in God’s Word. This month, we’ll focus on “water,” in various contexts. As you write, I challenge you to think of the passage not only in earthly terms, but in terms of the hereafter as well! If time & ability allows, don't stop at the given assignment, but read (and perhaps even write) the verses before and after to get the full context, determine how they relate to the assignment and speak to your heart individually. You won't regret one moment spent diving deeper into God's Word. DIVE INTO THE LIVING WATER!!
I write all my plans based off of the King James version of the Holy Bible, so other translations may differ some in wording, but the context should be the same. I also write all my plans for 31 days so that they can be used for any month of the year.
Happy reading and writing!
